This survey study of 12 427 individuals (representing 68 countries and including 2194 clinical trial participants) responding to a questionnaire in 2017 revealed a perceived importance of clinical research but continued limited understanding of the clinical research process, that clinical trials are rarely discussed during regular physician visits, and that clinical trial participation is perceived as burdensome.
Meaning
These findings may inform patient engagement strategies that may ultimately accelerate the pace at which useful medicines are developed and commercialized.
